Honeywell Air Purifier 18155
The Honeywell Air Purifier 18155 is a perfect combination of perhaps the best air purifier specialist brand name and low cost efficiency, making it one of the best choices on the market for the more price-conscious consumer. Although it is on the lower end of the price spectrum for brand air purifiers, this honeywell air purifier does not compromise its effectiveness, boasting true HEPA filtration capability (i.e. removal of more than 99.97% of particles >0.3 microns) as well as an array of functions that are characteristic of the very best air purifiers for home use available going into the new decade. Such functions include sensors which detect when the filter needs to be replaced, carbon pre-filter, and convenient electronic controls.
This honeywell air purifier has the following features:
- CADR: 150
- True HEPA filter
- Carbon pre-filter
- Replacement sensors
- No cool air exhaust
Honeywell air purifiers need no introduction: This is probably the most well known, well respected manufacturer of home air purifiers to date. It’s very easy to decide on an item based on its brand alone, but this review will take this particular honeywell air purifier, the Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort, as an individual unit.
Although Honeywell is respected, I urge new buyers of air purifiers not to buy a honeywell air purifier simply because it is Honeywell. Read as many air purifier reviews as you can, check out air purifier ratings on sites like consumer reports as much as you can before buying anything. I know it’s boring but do a bit of research and you will save yourself a lot of money; this applies to all types of products, not just air purifiers.
The Honeywell Air Purifier 18155 SilentComfort is the best air purifier for people who need it for a small to mid size room, and who are looking to get a high quality air purifier at a reasonable price. The CADR is 150, therefore the maximum recommended area which this honeywell air purifier can cover is approximately 225 square feet.
If you have a larger room than this (15′ x 15′), then please continue to browse our reviews – at the moment I would recommend the Whirlpool Whispure AP51030K which covers rooms of around 21′ x 21′. Also, if you are unsure as to what I mean by CADR, please read our page on CADR as it is very important for your best air purifier search – trust me, it will save you a lot of money.
As for specific features of the Honeywell Air Purifier 18155 SilentComfort, customers describe it as quiet, and even on high setting about as loud as a dishwasher from the room nextdoor. In terms of the air quality, most people who have written 18155 Honeywell Air Purifier reviews on Amazon are very happy with the removal of particles from the air, the removal of odors as well (due to the carbon filter, no doubt), as well as the dramatic stopping of allergies when the Honeywell Air Purifier 18155 is in operation.
This Honeywell air purifier does not have an ionizer which many people might favor due to ionizers’ emitting ozone (O3) which is said to be harmful to the lungs in certain quantities, however in defence of other air purifiers which do in fact have ionizers, I am sure that if any appliance were dangerous it would not be allowed to go on the market. Finally, owners of this Honeywell air purifier seem to like the way in which the unit blows the purified air out – not too fast, not too slow; a gentle, comforting breeze as one person put it.
There’s no mechanical buzzing or any sort of discomforting sounds while in operation; these things are great to know, thank goodness for the internet, as there is nothing worse than buying an item only to find out that it makes a terrible sound when it is on. (A slight digression here: My thanks to all reviewers on Amazon, consumer reports and elsewhere – I hope to provide as much help as you have given me.)
I can, as per usual, find some bad experiences, though they are, admittedly, in the minority. We have the typical experiences of non-functional units, the sudden stopping of functionality which is all too indicative of a power outage and the subsequent surge of power (my educated guess, as always). One customer was not happy that the buttons were too far indented so you had to make an effort to press down, though I haven’t managed to find this complaint from anyone else.
Another negative in my view is that the CADR of this Honeywell air purifier is only 150 which means you will be able to purify a room of total 225 square feet. This is a moderately sized area but could be bigger. Note that the Whirlpool Whispure AP51030K can handle around 450 square feet. However for the Honeywell air purifier 225 square feet is not necessarily a bad value given the price. (This Honeywell Air Purifier 18155 is priced at $200 compared to $350 for the Whirlpool Whispure.)
Overall, if you’ve got a small-medium sized room below 225 square feet (15′ x 15′) and you want the quality of the Honeywell brand, but you don’t want to pay the often astronomical costs for a high end, high CADR Honeywell air purifier, then the Honeywell Air Purifier 18155 SilentComfort is the ideal choice. If you’ve got a room bigger than 225 square feet (yes, get out your measuring tape!) then please continue to read the air purifier reviews on this site.
