Affordable Blueair Air Purifier 403
The Blueair Air Purifier 403 is a high end, energy efficient air cleaner that not only performs all the basic functions you would expect of arguably the best air purifier brand in terms of raw power, but performs them at an almost silent noise level.
Indeed, unlike most of the air purifiers we have reviewed, the Blueair Air Purifier 403 makes virtually no sound as it processes your air up to 5 times an hour through its HEPASilent filter: So many brands claim to operate silently but it simply cannot be true for units in the low to medium price range.
The Blueair Air Purifier 403, on the other hand, is a significantly more expensive air purifier, costing from two to three times the average, and the difference in price shows – whether it be the strong steel frame or the energy efficiency (this unit is Energy Star compliant) which will save you a lot of money in the long run.
Full features of the The Blueair Air Purifier 403 are:
- CADR value of 240 with maximum 365 square feet capacity
- Three speed settings for choice of intensity
- Strong, sturdy galvanized steel construction
- Energy Star compliant for cost savings on bills
- 5 purification cycles per hour
Despite its higher price, the Blueair Air Purifier 403 has received better average reviews than many of the far cheaper Honeywell air purifiers, which indicates that the Blueair Air Purifier may be the best air purifier out of them all, and may indeed be worth the higher price paid, since customers are happy with their purchase despite having paid significantly more.
The positive Blueair Air 403 Air Purifier reviews are quick to point out the “very quiet” operating levels of the Blueair Air Purifier, even at the highest setting, so much so that getting to sleep and subsequently sleeping peacefully is not a problem with the unit turned on, something that cannot be said of less expensive air purifiers.
Of course, as you would expect from a higher end product, the Blueair Air Purifier 403 does the job perfectly, removing dust, pollen and smoke from the air as well as anyone could expect from any air purifier, with a number of customers describing ultimate relief from their allergies as a result of using the Blueair Air Purifier 403.
Quite obviously, the main downside of the Blueair Air Purifier 403 is its price. At around $500 it represents a huge investment and is really only for those who are in real need of constant air purification, to the point that the extra money is worth the discomfort that a louder air purifier may cause, particularly at night when trying to get to sleep.
Also, the whole design, both interior and exterior, is obviously more carefully and expertly designed, with better quality materials in almost every aspect of its composition. In addition to the significantly lower sound levels, the expert design also leads to much higher energy efficiency, and if you use an air purifier constantly or regularly, it may even be better in the long run to invest a little more now rather than face significantly higher bills that a lot of the cheaper, far less energy efficient air purifiers can sometimes give you.
That being said, I personally don’t think $500 is justified unless you aren’t a very good sleeper and you need it to run 24/7 (or nearly that amount) in which case the Blueair Air Purifier 403 would be an intelligent option. Some other minor points: This unit is quite big, at 10 in. x 20 in. x 23 in. and weighing 40 lbs, it dwarfs some of the other air purifiers I’ve reviewed on this site so far,
So this is certainly more of a permanent fixture in somebody’s bedroom, perhaps someone with severe allergies, rather than just a general, portable, once-in- a-while air purifier. Finally, the maximum room size of 365 square feet is deceptively average when you consider the overall size of the Blueair Air Purifier –
I am often left wondering where all that size goes, but I would hazard a guess that the answer is a mixture between noise reduction and energy efficiency, the two main selling points of the Blueair Air Purifier 403. All in all, if you can afford it, definitely go for it, because aside from industrial units, the Blueair 403 is the best air purifier out there for the home.
